Case Study: Links of London

Background

Luxury jewellery brand Links of London was founded in 1990. In 2006 it was bought by the Folli Follie Group, a global jewellery brand, which has grown Links of London in new international markets. There are now nearly 450 stores and stockists across Europe, Asia and the USA.

In 2016 the flagship store in New Brook Street, London, was revamped. This has been followed by the roll-out of a refurbishment programme across some of the other UK boutiques. The new-look stores aim to reflect Links of London’s English heritage and craftsmanship, as well as its design ethos of timeless elegance and contemporary classics.

Projects

DRF is an expert in the design of all elements of an electrical project, from electrical wiring and data cabling to internal and external lighting, as well as fire and security systems.

We have recently been working on refits at the York and Leeds stores for Links of London. The project involved a number of aspects of electrical work. The new-look stores feature elegant fittings, modern lighting and chrome display units to house their wide selection of high quality watches, jewellery and giftware.

Our Expertise

We have extensive experience and specialist knowledge of the retail sector, having undertaken work for many well-known high street names including EE, Specsavers, Gant and J Crew. Projects have ranged from single store fit-outs to UK-wide electrical system upgrades.

We are experts in the electrical requirements of retail stores, and know the importance of balancing the needs of a business (such as security, fire prevention and employee comfort) with those of its customers (for example, well-lit display cabinets and fitting rooms). For a jewellery store like Links of London, lighting is a key factor in attracting customers via the shop window but also showing off the stunning pieces and really making them sparkle in store! Lighting also contributes to the atmosphere of a premises; Links of London required an elegant and high-end feel while at the same time creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We always collaborate with the other contractors on each project to ensure a smooth delivery, with work completed on time and within budget. Our excellent working relationship with both our clients and our colleagues in the industry means we are known and trusted to carry out a project to a high standard. We also place an emphasis on after sales care and customer support which we view as a vital element of the project.

Case Study: Eurochange

Background

Established in 1975, Eurochange is an expert in foreign exchange, offering a range of services including travel currency purchase and overseas money transfers.

The company deals with thousands of transactions every day, involving more than 70 currencies and 194 countries. Customers are individuals, retailers and other businesses. They can access services by phone, online, or through one of Eurochange’s branches nationwide.

Eurochange is expanding rapidly and, following the opening of a branch in Worksop this month, now has 144 outlets in shopping centres or on the high street throughout England, Scotland and Wales. The company employs more than 500 people.

Projects

DRF has been appointed as a direct electrical contractor for Eurochange’s high street outlets and we’ve certainly been busy! Eurochange has been growing its network of branches year on year and, last year alone, opened 23 new ones. It has already unveiled three this year, and has plans for a further 22 in 2017, not to mention the ongoing refurbishment of some of its well-established branches.

The benefit of working as a direct contractor means that you can really get to know a company, and that’s certainly been the case with DRF and Eurochange. We know what they expect from us, and they trust us to deliver it. We work closely together throughout the whole process of each new fit-out or refurbishment to ensure the finished result is delivered on time and within budget.

We also find that being a direct contractor means we get to work on a regular basis with other Eurochange contractors. This helps us build up a great relationship, which is vital for the success of any project. We are big advocates of collaboration and communication between all parties on a project. It ensures that the entire process runs smoothly, saving time and money.

Our Expertise

We approach all our projects with the same level of expertise and enthusiasm, carrying each one out to the highest standards, on time and on budget. We also believe that after excellent sales care and customer support is just as important as the job itself, helping to maintain the good working relationships we build up with our clients.

Our wealth of experience has been key to enabling us to cover all aspects of the electrical requirements for Eurochange’s branches. We are specialists in a wide range of elements, from wiring and data cabling to fire and security systems. Because of the nature of the business, security was a key consideration for Eurochange, and we worked closely with the business to design a bespoke solution to their requirements. From a retail point of view, we know that the needs of the business and its employees must be balanced with those of its customers. Lighting is a key factor in this. Not only does it provide well-lit working conditions for staff (vital when counting money!) but it also highlights key areas of the premises to customers, as well as creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
