Electrical Contractors to Commerce and Industry Installation, Maintenance & Testing, Fire Alarms, Emergency Lighting & Life Systems

Looking back on recent projects

With the restrictions around Covid-19 affecting our day-to-day work recently, we’ve had time to reflect on our business and review some of the fantastic projects we’ve completed over the last 12 months or so.

This has underlined for us where our strengths lie and what a fantastic team of  skilled and experienced electricians we have.

It’s also been a tonic for us at this challenging time to review our work and remind ourselves what a great job we do.

Retail

We’ve been working on projects in the retail sector for many years now, undertaking everything from individual new store fit-outs to nationwide roll-outs of electrical system upgrades.

2019 and the early part of 2020 were no different, with our team involved in projects for major high street brands including Hugo Boss, Gant, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Magnet Kitchens, O2 and Specsavers.

Fast fit-out programmes were completed on time for Tommy Hilfiger’s Kingston upon Thames store (six weeks) and Gant’s new high-profile outlet in Glasgow (eight weeks) which included staircase production and the installation of a new mezzanine floor. We also completed a six-week fit-out for Magnet Kitchens in Uckfield.

At the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet in Ellesmere Port we provided electrical work for both the Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein stores.

It was also great to work with long-term client Specsavers on their stores in Stone, Staffordshire, and the Arndale Centre in Manchester.

Hospitality

The hospitality industry is another area in which we carry out regular electrical work. Some of our recent projects include an electrical upgrade of the White Hart Hotel in Harrogate, where extra care and due diligence was required as the hotel remained open throughout most of our activity.

Another great project to be involved in was Honest Burger’s new London Bridge eatery. Set over two floors, the scheme was a long time in the design process but the fantastic end result was worth it.

We also worked on the Benugo Serpentine Bar and Kitchen in Hyde Park, London.

Tourism

During 2019 and the first part of 2020, we continued to work with long-term client Trailfinders on a range of their premises nationwide, including Milton Keynes, Sheffield, Winchester and Chelmsford. One of our projects was a fast-track lighting upgrade from fluorescents to LEDs in their Liverpool store.

Many of the Trailfinders outlets are in listed buildings and therefore required a specialised approach for all the electrical work (see below).

Listed buildings

Some of the recent projects mentioned above have taken place in listed buildings. They include the Trailfinders stores in Sheffield, Winchester, Chelmsford and the iconic Midsummer Arcade in Milton Keynes, as well as the Benugo Serpentine Bar and Kitchen in Hyde Park.

Installing and upgrading electrical systems in listed buildings requires specific knowledge and experience as it presents a range of additional considerations, challenges and constraints. This can make the project more time-consuming and complicated, although it can also prove more rewarding and interesting.

Our experienced and highly-qualified team of electrical contractors specialise in designing all elements of a project, including electrical wiring, data cabling, internal and external lighting, fire and life systems.
